-Do you offer in-person or online therapy?
At this time, I only offer online therapy known as tele-health sessions using HIPAA compliant platforms.
-Where can I find psychiatry services like medication management?
Go to the "Psychiatric Referrals" tab on my website. When you scroll over it, you will see 2 tabs to choose from. One tab has list for regular psychiatric referrals and the other tab is especially for child/adolescent psychiatric referrals. Can choose from any of the providers on the list.
-What kind of services do you provide?
I do both individual and couples counseling. I also do pre-marital counseling.
-What is the difference between a therapist, counselor, and psychologist?
Therapists and counselors are essentially the same - licensed mental health professionals with Master's degrees who provide therapy. The terms can be used interchangeably.
Psychologists usually have doctoral degrees and can conduct comprehensive psychological testing and assessments.
Both can diagnose conditions and provide therapy, but only psychologists can perform formal evaluations often required for ADHD, autism, or legal/educational purposes.
What matters most is finding someone you like who can help with what you are dealing with.
-Therapy or psychiatry?
It is recommended to do both. Research shows combination treatment (therapy with medication management) is more effective than either alone.
Therapy is good for working through emotional challenges, relationship issues, life transitions, or want to develop better coping strategies. Therapy can get down to the root cause of issues where you might not need to take medications.
Consider psychiatry for medication management if you are experiencing symptoms that might benefit from medication (like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, etc). Psychiatric providers prescribe and manage medications.
-Do you accept insurance?
Yes. You can see the list of insurances I accept under the tab above. Insurances are listed under each of the platforms I am credentialed with. I am currently credentialed with the most health insurances with Tava.
-Can I book a session without insurance and how much does therapy cost with or without insurance?
Yes. Self-pay rates for therapy are listed on my homepage and the various platforms I work for.
-Can I use my FSA to pay for therapy sessions?
Yes. Some of the platforms I work on allow for FSA to pay for therapy sessions.
-How do I cancel or reschedule a session?
My clients can schedule or reschedule appointments online on the platforms. Clients can also cancel appointments online on the platforms as well. If you have any trouble doing any of these tasks, please let me know and I will try to help.
-Should I use a phone, tablet, or computer for my tele-health appointment?
You can use either of these devices as long as you can be seen and heard. Computers, whether they be laptops or desktops, are ideally used during therapy sessions. If you are using your phone, please make sure your phone is on "Do Not Disturb" mode or a similar mode so that therapy session is not constantly interrupted my phone calls.
For children, it is ideal to use a computer so that games and activities can be done on the computer via screen sharing.
-Should I use headphones or earbuds during therapy sessions?
The use of these devices is up to you and voluntary. Some people like to use these devices so that they can hear better or just for added security because it makes the sessions more secure in a way so that others cannot hear what is discussed during sessions.
-Can I use my headset while driving to do therapy session?
Absolutely not. Therapy sessions cannot be conducted while a client is driving for safety, ethical, and legal issues. If you are in your car, you need to be parked in a proper spot, but you cannot be driving during a therapy session.
